Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
The ministers stated during the protocol part of the meeting that they would also discuss the situation around Ukraine and developments in the Middle East.
Lavrov said that Europeans are planning to create a new aggressive bloc with the participation of Ukraine and direct it against Moscow.
He emphasized that the West is escalating the situation around Taiwan and the Korean Peninsula.
Lavrov noted that there are concrete plans for upcoming contacts between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping. He added that Russia and China plan to discuss specific steps in line with Xi Jinping’s global security initiatives and Putin’s idea of creating a Eurasian security architecture.
Wang Yi, in turn, stated that Russia-China cooperation has strengthened. According to him, Russia and China fully coordinate their positions in international relations and support each other: “Moscow and Beijing should use this historic opportunity and elevate their strategic cooperation to a new level.”
