Russian Gazprom will sell its product to Ukraine’s Naftogaz without third party for the first time over the past 10 years, APA reports. The Ukrainian-Russian gas deal was brokered by the RosUkrEnergo Company so far. The Russian and Ukrainian prime ministers reached an agreement on the gas price on January 17, which enables Ukraine to buy the Russian gas for 20 percent cheaper than European supplies. Instead of this Moscow will get privileged tariff of gas transportation to Europe. This scheme will be implemented after its approval by the Ukrainian president. Ukraine will pay 360-380 dollars per 1000 cubic meters in the first quarter of 2009. It can drop to 145 dollars by the yearend because of lowering of gas prices in the world market. The European gas supplies expected to be resumed on Monday after signing the official agreement between Russia and Ukraine.
50 percent of RosUkrEnergo stocks belong to Gazprom and 50 percent to the Ukrainian businessmen Dmitriy Firtash and Ivan Fursin. RosUkrEnergo received the Russian gas on Ukrainian-Russian borders and sold it to Naftogaz. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko proposed to implement gas deal without third party for many times, but Moscow never agreed with that.
