Ukraine blocks gas supplies to Europe

Kmyiv-APA. Ukraine has today blocked the transit of Russian natural gas to Europe via its territory, hours after Moscow resumed the pumping of gas, dashing the hopes of millions of European consumers hit by bitter winter, APA reports quoting UNIAN.
Ukraine pipeline system has failed to carry Russian gas westwards after Moscow resumed supplies after a deal had been struck on insistence of the European Union.
EU spokeswoman, Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen urged the sides to implement commitments undertaken in European Commission. The European Commission required the international observers to be given full access to the central dispatcher centers of Gazprom and Naftogaz Ukrany, said Ferran Tarradellas, Spokesman for the EU Energy Commissioner. He called on two sides to create full free condition for European observers for their monitoring.
