Eight parties and several electoral blocs to participate in Armenia’s parliamentary elections

Three parties are included to the ruling coalition – Republican Party led by Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan and “Prosperous Armenia” and “Orinats Yerkir” (Rule of Law) led by oligarch Gagik Sarukyan, announced the names of their candidates.

The Armenian National Congress headed by the main opposition political force of Armenia, former president Levon Ter-Petrosyan, as well as Dashnaksutun, “Heritage”, Democrat, Communist and “United Armenians” will also participate in the elections.

Armenian parliament has 131 seats. 90 deputies are elected on the party lists and the rests on single-mandate constituencies. 180 candidates will fight for 41 majoritarian mandates in the parliamentary elections in May. The majority of candidates in single member constituencies were nominated by the Armenian National Congress.
