The 29th meeting of the Azerbaijan–Russia Joint Commission on the allocation of the Samur transboundary river's water resources, established in accordance with the Agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation on Cooperation in the Efficient Use and Protection of the Water Resources of the Samur Transboundary River, was held on July 9 in Azerbaijan's Gusar district, APA-Economics reports.
The meeting was co-chaired by Zakir Guliyev, Co-Chair of the Azerbaijan–Russia Joint Commission from the Azerbaijani side and Chairman of the Board of the Regional Water Reclamation Service under the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency (ADSEA), and Vadim Nikonorov, Co-Chair of the Commission from the Russian side and Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Water Resources of the Russian Federation.
Representatives of the Regional Water Reclamation Service, relevant institutions of ADSEA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the State Service on Property Issues under the Ministry of Economy, as well as the State Border Service participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the allocation of the Samur transboundary river's water resources between the two countries, monitoring of water resources, the joint operation of the Samur Hydrotechnical Complex, as well as other current areas of mutual cooperation. At the conclusion of the meeting, the measures to be implemented were determined and the final protocol was signed.
