Vilnius – APA. Lithuanian government decided to recall its ambassador to Georgia Mecys Laurinkus. The diplomat will be recalled on January 29, 2010, APA reports quoting Delfi.it. Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite demanded the ambassador to resign accusing him in politicking and said she lost credit of the ambassador. There was no new appointment to the post of ambassador to Georgia. Mecys Laurinkus headed the Lithuanian State Security Department before his appointment to the diplomatic mission. He was in this office when President Rolandas Paskas resigned. Local sources said Laurinkus played an important role in the Paskas’ resignation. The newspapers said Laurinkus’ resignation might relate to his report about presence of a secret CIA prison in Lithuania.
