Russian Defense Ministry doesn’t comment on deployment of Georgian troops near South Ossetian border

Moscow. Roman Aghayev – APA. Russian Defense Ministry’s press service didn’t make comments on the deployment of Georgian troops near Akhalgori region to begin military operations in South Ossetia. APA Moscow correspondent was told at the Defense Ministry that this issue is not under their authority. “We don’t interfere in the domestic affairs of other countries even if Russian troops deployed there. South Ossetia and Abkhazia were recognized by Russia and both have embassies in Moscow and you need ask them about that. The Russian Defense Ministry cannot comment on the situation near the borders of other country”.

So-called ambassador of the separatist South Ossetian republic Dmitriy Medoev said in his exclusive interview to APA Moscow bureau that Georgia began large –scale militarization process. “The countries, which armed Georgia until August 2008, continue to do that. Georgian army passed full training on use of modern weapons and today stability of not only South Caucasus, but whole Caucasian region is threatened. It is carried out in coordination with the Georgia’s allies and it can lead to the unpredictable results”.

Medoev mentioned the current situation in Akhalgori region and noted that “Georgian troops were not deployed only near Akhalgori, they are threatening throughout the borders of South Ossetia”.
