Baku – APA. The owner of Spartak female basketball club, famous businessman Shabtai von Kalmanovich was killed in the center of Moscow, APA reports. According to some reports, Kalmanovich was friendly with Yaponchik, Russian crime boss, who was killed while leaving a restaurant. Gunmen fired at his Mercedes S500 from a passing Lada-Prioria. They attempted to escape, the driver of the Mercedes pursued them. But the gunmen shot at the driver and he was obliged to stop. Doctors found at least 20 bullet wounds on Kalmanovich’s body. The driver was hospitalized. His ward is being secured.
Kalmanovich was also one of the owners of Lithuanian Zalgiris basketball club. Lithuanian President conferred the title of prince on Kalmanovich after Zalgiris became European champion.
