Flu epidemic kills 67 in Ukraine

Baku â€“ APA. According to the reports to November 2, 67 people died in Ukraine from influenza, deputy health minister of Ukraine Vasiliy Lazorshinets said, APA reports quoting Ukrainska Pravda online source. He said 22 cases of AH1N1-infection were confirmed as a result of laboratory analyses, but all death cases were a result of this virus. â€œWe have confirmed report about the â€œswine fluâ€ infection because all death cases were same typical. The postmortem examination is going onâ€.

Lazorshinets said there was no vaccine against the â€œswine fluâ€ in Ukraine, but they were negotiating this issue with all countries and producers. Several inoculations are registered now in Ukraineâ€.

The deputy minister said only medicine treated the â€œswine fluâ€ was Tamiflu, but it was not preventive. â€œThis medicine is effective only on the first days of illness if the virus was identified in the human organismâ€.

Lazorshinets added that they can not make prognosis on the situation around the disease.
