Armenian National Security Council supports protocols agreed with Turkey

Baku – APA. Armenian National Security Council has held a meeting. APA reports quoting Armenia today website that the protocols to be signed with Turkey, public discussions about it and President Serzh Sargsyan’s meetings with Diaspora were discussed at the meeting. Garegin II, Catholicos of all Armenians also attended the meeting. The participants said they support the initialed protocols.

Serzh Sargsyan said geopolitical risks can not give reason to refuse establishing relations with Turkey. He said Diaspora representatives are concerned that Armenia lacks human, financial, economic and political resources to establish equal relations with Turkey.
“I think this is not a right approach. We need mobilize our resources and completely use the potential of our Diaspora. But this is not the reason for our country to withdraw into itself,” he said.

Serzh Sargsyan said there is concern that Armenia may undergo economic and demographic expansion of Turkey after the reopening of the borders.
“It is as if I think the best way to treat headache is to cut off the head,” he said.
