US and European markets closed on Thursday

Baku. Vahab Rzayev - APA-Economics. Most financial markets were closed Thursday, Dec. 25 for Christmas.
A day before, stocks ended a shortened trading session on Christmas Eve with a modest bounce, while crude-oil futures prices continued their decline.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 48.99 to 8468.48, while the Nasdaq Composite Index added 3.36 to 1524.90. The Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index gained 4.99 to 868.15.
Britain’s FTSE 100 index closed down 0.9 percent at 4216.59 after a shortened trading day, while France’s CAC-40 ended down 0.4 percent at 3116.21.
