Baku-APA. Vietnam's inspectorate agencies detected 23 corruption cases in the first half of 2014, according to a report released at a meeting of the Central Steering Committee for Corruption Prevention and Control on Wednesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
During the period, 23 cases were detected involving 32 individuals and a total of 68.5 billion Vietnamese dongs (3.25 million U.S. dollars), said the report.
According to the Criminal Statistics Bureau under the Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam, from the beginning of the year to the end of May, investigation agencies across the country prosecuted 102 corruption cases involving 198 defendants, while procuracy agencies at all levels indicted 122 corruption cases with 277 defendants.
As many as 84 cases with 217 defendants were brought to first instance court during the period, said the report.
The Central Steering Committee for Corruption Prevention and Control of Vietnam was established in 2013. The committee is directly administered by 's Central Committee's Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and chaired by general secretary of the CPV.
