Baku. Real Jafarli – APA. Iran's opposition Kalame news website said that more than 30 political prisoners have been transferred to hospitals, four with serious head injuries, after 100 armed security forces tried to quell a riot in the notorious Evin prison in north Tehran, APA reports quoting the Centre for a Democratic Iran.

According to Kalame, the rioting started after prisoners complained about a new round of interrogation for every single one of them that involved beating and manhandling of those who refused to take part in it.

“As a result of an invasion of the Ward 350 of Evin political prison by agents of the intelligence units of the Revolutionary Guard, Ministry of Intelligence and one hundred armed security guards of the prison, a bloody clash with prisoners ensued in which more than 30 political prisoners were beaten and injured, with four taken to hospital with serious head injuries”, Kalame said.

Three Azerbaijani political prisoners were among them. It is reported that Doctor Asadullah Asadi was seriously injured, musician Ismayil Barzigari broke ribs and journalist Said Matinpur was beaten with a rubber truncheon.
