Baku-APA. Israeli fighter jets struck three militant targets across the Gaza Strip on Monday afternoon, in response to rocket fire on southern Israel from Gaza, Israeli military said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The targets included two "terror activity sites" in southern Gaza and a third one in central Gaza, the military said in a statement, adding that direct hits were confirmed.

Israel's Army Radio reported earlier that helicopter gunships fired warning shots into northern Gaza, but a military source in Tel Aviv refused to confirm report, saying only shots were fired toward suspected areas where the rockets have come from.

The airstrikes came a few hours after Israel announced that it sustained seven rocket hits from Gaza, as residents were celebrating the last day of the Passover holiday.

The rockets fired from Gaza fell in open areas and no injuries were reported. One rocket, which exploded on a road caused minor damage to shops, the Ynet news site said.

Prior to the rocket fire, Palestinian militants fired a rocket- propelled grenade at Israeli troops patrolling the southern Gaza border fence in armored vehicles. No injuries or damage were reported in that incident.

"It is our obligation to seek out and target those who attack our civilians and soldiers, and to eliminate their capabilities," Israeli military spokesman Peter Lerner said in a statement. " Hamas rocket terrorism is an intolerable reality Israelis should not have to accept."

He said more than 100 Gaza rockets had hit southern Israel since the beginning of 2014.

The Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip has witnessed sporadic cross-border violence since a cease-fire deal was reached in November 2012.

The Egyptian-mediated truce ended a week of violence that left 184 Palestinians and six Israelis dead.
