The Shura Council, Hezbollah’s central decision-making authority, has appointed Hashem Safieddine as the Lebanon-based Shiite party’s new secretary general, APA reports citing Al Arabiya.
Safieddine served as the head of the movement’s executive committee. He is a cousin of former Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah killed on September 27 in an Israeli strike on south Beirut.
Information on his appointment has not been officially published.
