The Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan has sent the criminal case for the release of the criminal authority Aziz Batukaev, in which former president Almazbek Atambaev was convicted, for a new trial, a source from the judiciary told RIA Novosti, APA reports.
A source citing the Supreme Court college’s decision, “The petition of lawyers Sergei Slesarev and Zamir Zhooshev to continue the proceedings due to newly discovered circumstances in the criminal case against Almazbek Atambayev will be fulfilled.”
According to him, the decisions of the Supreme Court dated October 12, 2021 and March 15, 2022 are also canceled with the document. These decisions upheld the lower courts’ decisions regarding Atambaev’s conviction in the Batukaev case.
