5.9-magnitude earthquake was recorded in the ocean waters along the shoreline of Japan, according to data provided by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), APA reports.

The termor struck at a depth of 29.9 kilometers and its epicenter was some 111 kilometers south of the Japanese city of Honocho, home to just over 560,000 people according to the 2023 information.
