Iran plans to develop border areas and transit routes to increase the volume of trade with Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade, Head of the Iranian Trade Promotion Org. Alireza Peymanpak said to APA's Tehran bureau.
"Currently, we try to develop infrastructure in the Astara border. In addition, within the framework of the North-South corridor, we have discussed with Russia the opening other borders and expanding activity".
He noted that there is a potential of several billion dollars in the field of economic cooperation among the Eurasian countries.
"That is why, there is a need to use the opportunities of all roads and borders," he noted.
E. Peymenpak has talked about the importance of economic cooperation with Azerbaijan and noted that currently, Iran changes economic advisors operating in the embassies in the various countries.
"Priority for us is to change the economic advisors operating in the Iranian embassies in the various countries. But, we have not changed the economic advisor regarding Azerbaijan and he continues his work.
"We have given him some powers in order to strengthen his activity. This is due to the importance we attach to cooperation with Azerbaijan".
He noted that Iran has developed a very comprehensive program for the development of cooperation with the countries of the northern region, especially Azerbaijan and Russia, and is trying to achieve its goals in this area.
