Gunmen assault Lebanese security patrol

Baku-APA. Lebanese Internal Security Forces confirmed Friday that gunmen have assaulted one of its patrols, when soldiers were preventing individuals from illegally cutting down trees for firewood in the town of Almat, Jbeil, National News Agency reported, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Some 20 gunmen assaulted the patrol and stole some of their weapons, police chief General Joseph Doueihi said at a press conference.

Ten of the attackers have been arrested in raids ordered by Interior Minister Marwan Charbel, while the remaining assailants would be arrested "at all costs," according to Doueihi.

The police chief urged the attackers to hand themselves over to security forces.
