Over 87,000 Syrian refugees in Turkey: statement

Baku-APA. A total of 87,774 Syrian refugees are currently taking shelter in Turkey, said a Turkish official statement on Monday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Syrian refugees are mostly living in Turkey’s southern provinces of Hatay, Sanliurfa, Gaziantep, Kilis, Kahramanmaras, Osmaniye and Adiyaman, said the statement issued by Turkish Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD).

AFAD said that Syrian refugees who take shelter in Turkey have been provided with lodging, food, health services, security, social activities, education, religious services, translation services and communications.

It said that a total of 127,053 Syrians have entered Turkey since the outbreak of the 18-month-old conflict and that 39,279 have returned to Syria on their own will.

Meanwhile, the number of Syrian refugees who have received medical treatment in Turkish hospitals had exceeded 500, according to AFAD.
