A large group of PKK militants raided Sehit Mehmet Gendarmerie Station in Nazimiye town of Tunceli province from three different points with rocket launchers and long barreled weapons on Saturday evening, leaving one Turkish soldier dead and four others wounded, according to the report.

Many ambulances were dispatched to the region, said the report, adding that a clash between the PKK members and Turkish security forces is continuing.

A total of 330 PKK militants were killed in 974 military operations from February to August this year, according to a statement issued by the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, took up arms in 1984 in an attempt to create an ethnic homeland in southeastern Turkey.
