Ahmadinejad stresses role of Iran, Qatar in regional affairs

Baku-APA. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Thursday that Iran and Qatar can play an important role in preventing foreign meddling in the regional affairs, APA reports quoting Press TV.

In a meeting with visiting Qatari minister of state for international cooperation Khaled al-Attiyah, Ahmadinejad said that Iran and Qatar have common positions on many regional and international issues and this can help promote understanding among the regional states, said the report.

"Enemies want once again to conquer the Middle East and dominate its oil resources to solve their economic crisis by plundering the wealth of regional countries," he was quoted as saying.

"By promoting cooperation and understanding, regional countries should not allow enemies to interfere in their affairs," he added.

For his part, the Qatari minister said the two countries would be able to use the capacities of regional countries by increasing their energy cooperation.

He also conveyed a message from Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani to the Iranian president, said the report.
