In order to facilitate citizens' travel, strengthen cooperation between countries, and promote tourism development, the visa requirement for holders of ordinary passports of Japan and the Republic of Korea to enter the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan for tourism purposes has been abolished from July 1, 2026, to July 1, 2027, the State Migration Service told APA.

According to the information, under the new rules, citizens of the aforementioned countries may enter the Republic of Azerbaijan visa-free three times during the specified period and stay in the country for up to 30 days on each visit.

"Citizens of the listed countries who intend to come to the country for purposes other than tourism or wish to stay for a longer period may travel to Azerbaijan after obtaining the relevant visa in accordance with the requirements of the legislation.

Recall that foreigners temporarily staying in the territory of Azerbaijan for more than 15 days are required to register at their place of stay in accordance with the requirements of the Migration Code. In addition, if the grounds stipulated by the legislation exist, foreigners must apply to the State Migration Service before the expiry of the period of their temporary stay in order to extend this period or obtain a temporary residence permit, either in person through the 'migration services' service window operating at ASAN Service centers or electronically by accessing the 'Electronic Services' section of the official website of the Service," the statement said.
