Baku-APA. Three people were killed and four others were wounded in separate attacks in central and northern Iraq on Friday, APA reports quoting Xinhua

A traffic police officer was killed in the southwest of Baghdad by unidentified gunmen using silenced weapons, a Baghdad police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

An army checkpoint was attacked in west Mosul by gunmen on the same day without inflicting casualties on Iraqi army’s side. Soldiers at the checkpoint traded fire with the gunmen and forced the latter to flee.

One of the gunmen was killed during the exchange of fire, a local police source anonymously told Xinhua.

In south of Mosul, a roadside bomb hit a car, killing a woman inside and wounding another civilian, the same source said.

Another bomb targeting a police patrol ripped off in Mansur neighborhood of western Mosul, wounding three children, the source added.

Violence in Iraq has ebbed since its peak in 2006 and 2007 when the country was plunged into sectarian killings, but deadly shootings and bombings still occur on daily basis.
