Baku-APA. At least three armed tribesmen were killed in an attack blamed on leftist rebels in southern Philippines, APA reports citing Xinhua.

Two members of the Bagani Tribal Force militia were also wounded when 30 New People’s Army guerrillas stormed their camp in San Roque village, Bislig City in Mindanao’s Surigao del Sur province, around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Martin Gamba, spokesperson of Caraga regional police, said.

"The reinforcement team of the armed tribal militia were ambushed by the rebels resulting to three fatalities on our side and undetermined number on the attackers," said Gamba, adding police and army troops were now pursuing the guerrillas who fled after the incident.

The attack brought to five the number of government troops killed in NPA attacks in Caraga region in southern Philippines in the last two days, officials said, while another militiaman who was reportedly missing in action in San Luis, Agusan del Sur encounter on Thursday, has already returned home after he escaped and hid himself during the thick of the fighting.
