Baku-APA. South Korea’s ruling party chief is making a rare one-day visit to a North Korean industrial complex run by both Koreas, APA reports AP.
Friday’s trip by Grand National Party chief Hong Joon-pyo to the Kaesong factory just across the border comes as the rival Koreas attempt to improve ties frayed after violence last year that claimed 50 South Korean lives.
Yonhap news agency says that Hong told reporters that he wants to "break the stalemate in inter-Korean relations."
It wasn’t immediately clear if Hong will meet with senior North Korean officials.
Kaesong combines South Korean capital and know-how with cheap North Korean labor. It’s a rare example of inter-Korean cooperation.
