Two killed in gunmen attacks in Baghdad

Baku-APA. Two people were killed in separate gunmen attacks in Baghdad on Thursday evening, Apa reports quoting Xinhua.

Gunmen broke into a money exchange office in Ghadier district in eastern Baghdad and shot dead the office owner, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The attackers robbed certain amount of money before they fled the scene, the source said.

In a separate incident, gunmen using silenced weapons shot dead a policeman at a checkpoint in Baghdad’s southwestern district of al-Amil, the source added.

Earlier, the police said that they found the body of Hadi al- Mahdi, a journalist works for the Demozy Radio, a local independent radio station, in his apartment in Baghdad central district of Karrada.

Al-Mahdi’s body was found with two gunshots in his head, the police said.

Violence and sporadic attacks are still common in the Iraqi cities despite the dramatic decrease of violence over the past few years.
