2 killed, 8 wounded in bomb attacks in Baghdad

Baku-APA. A soldier and a civilian were killed, and eight people wounded in two bomb attacks in and near Baghdad on Wednesday night, an Interior Ministry source told, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

A civilian was killed and six others wounded when a roadside bomb ripped through a marketplace in Baghdadâ€™s northern neighborhood of Adhamiyah, the source said on condition of anonymity, because he was not authorized to speak to media.

In a separate incident, a soldier was killed and two others wounded in a roadside bomb explosion near their patrol in Abu Ghraib area, some 20 km west of Baghdad, the source said.

Earlier in the day, the police reported the killing of two anti- Qaida paramilitary groups members, also called Awakening Council groups, in separate gunfire and bomb attacks in eastern and central Iraq, while two motor rounds struck Baghdadâ€™s Green Zone, which houses some of the Iraqi government offices and the U.S. embassy, early in the morning.

Sporadic attacks remain common in the Iraqi cities despite the dramatic decrease of violence over the past few years.
