Baku-APA. The chief of staff of the Iraqi armed forces proposed a regional security organization that would include the neighboring Iran to maintain stability, the Iraqi defense ministry said in a statement on Tuesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"We have ambition to create a regional security organization to preserve the security of all states and ensure stability for its peoples," Lieutenant General Babaker Zebari said during a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Iraq Hassan Danaifar, according to the statement.

"Our region is important and vital that needs to consolidate efforts in order to achieve stability for the countries," Zebari, the Iraqi Kurdish top officer told Danaifar.

Zebari’s remarks came as the U.S. forces are preparing to completely pull out from Iraq by the end of 2011, according to security pact named Status of Forces Agreement, or SOFA, signed late in 2008 between Baghdad and Washington.
