Baku. Ahmed Yusifzade–APA. Speaker of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Ali Larijani has ordered the government to appoint a new minister for the Ministry of Roads and Transportation “at the earliest”, APA reports with reference to ICANA.
“Under the Iranian Constitution, the legal time for the president to name the new minister of roads and transportation is over. The government must name the new minister at the earliest,” Larijani said at the open parliamentary session on Monday.
On February 1, Iranian lawmakers gave a vote of ’no confidence’ to the country’s Minister of Roads and Transportation Department, Hamid Behbahani.
Following Behbahabi’s dismissal, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appointed Minister of Housing and Urban Development Ali Nikzad as caretaker Minister of Roads and Transportation.
Based on Article 135 of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Constitution, the president can appoint a caretaker for a maximum period of three months for those ministries having no minister.
