The worst fighting in years between Thailand and Cambodia along their disputed mountainous border has dragged on for a fifth straight day, APA reports quoting Press TV.

The clashes have now spread to other areas.

The two sides have exchanged artillery and rifle-fire about 150 kilometers to the east of where they had previously been fighting.

The two neighbors are in dispute over a small area of land that surrounds a 900-year-old temple.

They have battled daily since Friday in several border spots around the Hindu temple.

At least 13 people have been killed in the clashes.

However, the Cambodian Defense Ministry said in a statement late on Tuesday that the defense ministers of the two countries would meet soon to discuss a truce.

"Cambodian Defense Minister Tea Banh has agreed to meet his Thai counterpart in Phnom Penh shortly to discuss a ceasefire between the two countries," the statement read.
