Al-Qaeda Linked Outfit Owns Responsibility For Baghdad Carnage

Baku â€“ APA. An Islamist insurgent group has claimed responsibility for the suicide-bombing at an Army recruiting center in Baghdad that killed at least 58 people and injured 130 earlier this week, APA reports quoting â€œRTT Newsâ€.
The ’Islamic State of Iraq,’ suspected to have links with al-Qaeda, said in a statement posted on Islamist websites on Friday that the bomber targeted a "group of Shia apostates who sold their faith for money to be a cheap tool used in a war against Sunnis."
"The target this time - like every time - is the heart of security, where we penetrated all barriers to reach the target zone," the statement added.
A security official in Baghdad earlier had blamed the Tuesday attack on al-Qaeda, saying that "the fingerprints of al-Qaeda are very clear in this attack."
Pull out of U.S. combat troops from Iraq has led to increased insurgent attacks on security forces.
The US military which led the Iraqi invasion in 2003 said as many as 52,000 U.S. servicemen would remain in Iraq even after its combat troops left the country. All U.S. forces are scheduled to leave Iraq by the end of 2011.
