Baku – APA. Pakistani officials have said that gunmen attacked a passenger bus and shot dead at least 10 people in insurgency-hit southwest Pakistan.
The incident took place overnight in the Aab-e Gum area, about 75 kilometers southeast of Quetta, the capital of oil- and gas-rich Baluchistan Province.
Akbar Hussain Durrani, a senior official in the province’s home department, said as many as 35 gunmen stopped the bus, offloaded passengers at gunpoint, and killed 10 of them and wounded five others.
The bus was traveling to Quetta from the eastern city of Lahore.
All of those killed in the attack were Punjabi-speaking Pakistanis.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
The attack will add to ethnic tensions in Baluchistan, where a nationalist movement led by armed ethnic Baluch groups has long sought greater autonomy from the central government.
