Baku – APA. An Iranian man is under arrest in Brazil on suspicion of 11 murders allegedly aimed at protecting his illegal electronics smuggling operation, APA reports quoting “Associated Press”.
Police in the northeastern state of Ceara say 46-year-old Farhad Marvizi hired two rogue officers and other people to carry out the killings in the last two years.
A statement from police does not say if he has a lawyer. Authorities plan a news conference later to give more details.
He and 10 other suspects were detained Thursday.
Marvizi allegedly ran a lucrative ring that skirted duties on computers, digital music players and other electronics from Asia.
An investigation began in 2008 after the group allegedly tried unsuccessfully to kill a customs agent.
