Baku-APA. The outstanding balance of Japan’s central government debt reached 904.08 trillion yen for the first time at the end of June, according to the data of the Finance Ministry on Tuesday, APA reports quoting news.xinhuanet.com website.

The debt, which includes government bonds, borrowings and financing bills, is equivalent to almost 1.9 times the nominal gross domestic product in fiscal 2009, which totaled 476 trillion yen.

Per-capita debt came to around 7.10 million yen based on Japan’ s estimated population of about 127.42 million as of July 1, Kyodo News reported.

The debt balance increased by 21.15 trillion yen from the level at the end of March, when the ministry last released the data.

The ministry forecasts that the central government’s debt is likely to top about 973 trillion yen at the March 31 end of fiscal 2010.
