Israeli forces kill Palestinian near West Bank settlement

Baku-Baku. The Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian youth and wounded another, who approached a Jewish settlement near Salfeet city in the West Bank early on Thursday, Israeli and Palestinian sources said, APA reports quoting Xinhua News Agency.

The Israeli army said they spotted two people approaching the Barakn settlement and ordered them to stop. The soldiers fired at the two after they ignored their orders, killing one and injuring the other who managed to escape.

Unnamed Palestinian security sources said the identities of the two people are unknown as Israel forbad a Palestinian ambulance crew to take away the body of the dead.

An Israeli army spokesman told the Israel Radio there were no injuries among his troops, while hinting a possible Palestinian attack on forces guarding the settlement. However, it has not been clear whether the pair were planning an attack.

Israel and the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) preserve security liaison in the West Bank. However, direct peace talks are stalled and the Palestinians wanted Israel to stop settlement expansions on the occupied territories as a condition to return to face-to-face peace talks.

In the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, two Palestinian militants were killed on Wednesday in Israeli shelling near Gaza-Israel borders in Beit Hanoun town.
