Israel urges Russia not to supply modern weapons to Middle East

Baku-APA. Israel called on Russia not to supply modern weapon systems to the Middle East, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said on Russia’s Ekho Moskvy radio on Tuesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua News Agency.
The weaponry supplies may destabilize the situation in the region, the minister said.
"We don’t think that Russia should supply the most modern defensive systems or the most effective offensive systems (to the Middle East)," Barak said.
The minister worried that the planned supplies of Russian weapons, specifically to Syria, may soon change the situation in the region.
"Destabilization in this region may occur very quickly. Modern weapons systems are capable of upsetting the fragile balance," he was quoted by Interfax news agency.
