Italian architect starts conservation of Roman and Arabian scripts in Gobustan

Baku. Ulkar Gasimova–APA. Luigi Scrinzi, Director of Italian Humidbloc Company on Art and Architect started conservation of Roman and Arabian scripts in Gobustan National Historical–Feature Reservation. The project is carried out by technical support of Italian Lombardia province and Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry. Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry‘s Press Service told APA.
Roman scripts have been scraped with the help of ancient tools on Boyukdash rock. Six –line inscription written with ancient Latin alphabet consists of such words as Emperor Domitian, Caesar, Augustus Germanicus, Lucius Julius Maximus, Legio XII. Scripts approved that Legio XII Fulminata was in Azerbaijan during Domitian in the first century BC. Arabian scripts have been written with Arabian alphabet, but in Persian on Yazilitepe during XIII-XIV. The works will be completed late in September, 2008.

THE OPERATION IS BEING PERFORMED
