Baku. Ulkar Gasimova –APA. A round table entitled “Azerbaijani art of carpet weaving and modern demands: issues of protection” has taken place on Tuesday in the Latif Karimov Azerbaijan State Carpet and Popular Ornamental Art Museum in Baku. Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Sevda Mammadaliyeva said Azerbaijani art of carpet weaving took its rise in the Bronze Age and was developed until these latter days, APA reports. “Our carpets were displayed at the New York’s Metropolitan Museum, London’s Victoria and Albert, Louvre in Paris, Istanbul’s Topkapi and a number of world famous museums in Rome, Berlin, Tehran, Cairo, Moscow and Vienna. Unfortunately some museums introduce these pieces of art as Iranian or Caucasian carpets. Appropriate organizations are working now on this issue”, said Mammadaliyeva.
Speaking at the round table Director of the Azerbaijan State Carpet and Popular Ornamental Art Museum Roya Tagiyeva said works were done for the development of Azerbaijani art of carpet weaving today.
