US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker underscored Washington's support for Poland and other allies on Wednesday after repeated Russian drone incursions into Polish airspace during overnight strikes on Ukraine, APA reports.
“We stand by our NATO Allies in the face of these airspace violations and will defend every inch of NATO territory,” Whitaker wrote on X.
His message came as Warsaw confirmed that its military detected and responded to 19 such violations. Russia, however, insisted that its drones were solely aimed at Ukrainian defense targets and denied any intention of hitting Poland. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, in her annual State of the Union address, also warned that Europe must face the growing geopolitical challenges without hesitation.
