A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could help overcome the current deadlock in the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said in an interview with Fox News, APA reports.
“It is not always necessary to reach agreement on every issue. Sometimes leaders, by sitting face-to-face, can overcome a deadlock that their teams cannot resolve,” Vance stated.
The Vice President suggested that the key details of a peace settlement regarding Ukraine— including security guarantees and territorial issues—would likely be agreed upon in general terms before a meeting between Putin and Zelensky takes place.
According to Vance, no one can say for certain how the conflict in Ukraine will ultimately end, but he stressed that in recent months the negotiations have seen unprecedented progress.
