The United States used approximately 80% of its stockpile of interceptors for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system during the recent conflict with Iran, CNN reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
According to the report, Pentagon officials have warned that US stocks of key missile defense munitions have fallen to dangerously low levels following the conflict.
CNN also reported that the United States expended roughly half of its inventory of Patriot air defense missiles during the same period.
The figures are said to be reflected in the Pentagon's latest inventory assessment, highlighting concerns about the pace at which critical missile defense systems would need to be replenished.
