US State Department condemns death sentence for 19-year-old in Iran, APA reports.
“The death sentence for 19-year-old Amirhossein Ghadirzadeh for participating in a peaceful protest shows how far the Iranian regime will go to silence its people. In a country where roughly 50% of the population is under 30, the regime prioritizes executing its youth over listening to them. A regime that shows no mercy to its young clearly demonstrates one thing: no one in Iran is safe from its violence. We call on Iranian officials to immediately halt the execution of Amirhossein Ghadirzadeh, release all those imprisoned for peaceful protests, and respect the fundamental rights of the Iranian people,” the State Department said on its Farsi-language page on “X”.
