The US government does not have data on possible developments in the status of Russian forces in Syria after the change of power in the Arab country, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said on Monday, APA reports citing RIA Novosti.
"We have no information regarding the status of these (Russian) bases," Miller said during a daily briefing.
At the same time, he argues that, in Washington's opinion, Moscow allegedly "should answer for a lot to the Syrian people," including for cooperation with the government of Bashar al-Assad.
"As for the US position, it is ultimately up to the Syrians to decide (the fate of the stay of the Russian forces - ed.), and not the US people," the American diplomat added.
