United States President Donald Trump said on Monday that he warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Israel could be left alone against Iran if the current escalation develops into a full-scale war, APA reports.
Trump said he delivered the warning during a call with Netanyahu before Israel carried out its strike on Iran, according to Israel's Channel 12.
"I told Bibi, you better be very careful what you do, because you could be left alone against Iran very soon," Trump said. He added that he had urged Netanyahu not to respond to Iran's missile attack.
Trump also claimed Israel informed Washington about its planned strike at a very late stage. "They were already on their way to Iran. I managed to reduce the dimensions of the attack," he said. Trump added that five countries involved in mediation efforts between the United States and Iran had asked him to pressure Netanyahu to avoid further escalation.
