The NATO command responsible for coordinating military assistance and weapons deliveries to Ukraine (NSATU), based in Wiesbaden, Germany, will continue to be led by a U.S. general.
Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chair of the NATO Military Committee, announced that U.S. Army Lieutenant General Guillaume Beaurpere has been appointed to head the NSATU command.
He succeeds U.S. General Curtis Buzzard in the role.
The appointment means that, despite efforts to transfer some NATO command positions in Europe to European officers, the NSATU command remains under U.S. leadership.
