Baku-APA. Heavy snows and icy roads caused at least one fatal crash, forced delays and closure of roads in the U.S. state of New Mexico, local media reported Monday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
At least one person was killed Sunday because of dangerous driving conditions when an arctic front struck northern and central New Mexico, bringing in heavy snows, according to the news website KOB.com.
The winter storm also forced the temporary closure of Interstate 40 in Clines Corners where two semi-trucks were jack knifed.
A number of schools and schools districts were closed.
The winter weather also forced offices in some northern New Mexico cities and towns to open on a two-year delay Monday, according to the report.
