Baku-APA. At least eleven people including four kids have lost their lives and 31 others have been wounded in a bus crash in Western Colombia, APA reports quoting Press TV.

According to police officials, the incident took place on Saturday after a bus heading from the city of Quibdo to the capital Bogota crashed into a hill in Cerro Bravo, near Manizales.

Reports say that the injured were transferred to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Traffic police director Francisco Patino blamed the driver for the accident, saying, “He (the sleepy driver) had been driving about 12 hours on public roads.”

Last month, 27 people were killed and 15 others were injured in a similar incident in the central department of Cundinamarca.

Road traffic accidents in Colombia take approximately 5,000 lives each year.
