Baku-APA. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will testify on Wednesday before Congress on the deadly attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, local media reported on Tuesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Reports said more than four months after the attack, Clinton will take questions from American lawmakers before both a House and a Senate committee.

In the back-to-back hearings, lawmakers may question her on what she might have known about requests for beefing up security at the Benghazi consulate prior to the attack and what progress the State Department has made in implementing the long list of security improvement recommendations by an independent panel after the attack.

Clinton, who will soon leave her job as the U.S. chief diplomat, was forced to cancel her congressional hearing originally scheduled in December due to her illness.

The deadly Sept. 11 attack in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi last year killed U.S. ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. The U.S. State Department has been under harsh criticism for its inadequate protection of the U. S. mission.

On Dec. 18, the independent Accountability Review Board (ARB) released a review of the Benghazi attack, noting that "management deficiencies" at high levels of the State Department had contributed to the deadly outcome.

Following the report, four State Department officials were removed from their posts, including Eric Boswell, assistant secretary of state for diplomatic security.
