Bus crash kills 8, injures 32 in Colombia

Baku-APA. At least eight people were killed, including two minors, and another 32 were injured Monday when a passenger bus returning from a Christmas outing crashed in the town of Ibague in Colombia's central department of Tolima, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Ibague Police Chief Col. Edgar Munoz said most of the passengers were asleep when the bus overturned at an intersection on its return trip to the town of Girardot from the northwest city of Medellin.

While local media reported the cause of the crash appeared to be speeding, authorities opened an investigation into the exact causes.

The injured, including five in serious condition, were taken to a local hospital in Ibague.

According to Munoz, most of the passengers were employees of a bank and were coming back to Girardot after a visit to Medellin to see the city's Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
